Baby Pleco

Um,…so we have more babies. I found one pleco in the tank. I feel like we’re running a fish daycare here!

Sorry that it’s so hard to see. Taking pictures of baby fish seems to be difficult. Anyways. More baby fish…why not?

Fish @ Petland

Tuesday, May 23rd, 2006

Tonight Mark went to clean the fish tank with this special little cleaning thingy that hooks up to the kitchen sink. Unfortunately, it broke. So we went on a road trip to find an open fish store. We finally found Petland open and believe it or not, they had the replacement part. $5.99 and we were done, but we had to look at the fish. So some kid is in there feeding all the fish and decides to show off some saltwater fish to us. We walk over….and he drops a little fish in the tank with the big salt water guys. The next thing is “and this is after he just had dinner.” He put the little fish in there for the big fish to eat it!!! Part of me thought this was ok and just the way fish are, but the other part of me was horrified! I was watching a fish get killed! 2 bites and an eye was gone, couple more it wasn’t trying to swim anymore and then the big fish just swam off with it, I can only assume to have an after dinner snack. I like fish and all, but I prefer the ones that don’t eat each other.

We have babies!

2-3 weeks ago, I was over at Mark’s feeding the fish and could swear that I saw a baby fish go darting around and hid. I couldn’t ever find it again though, so I assumed it was imagination. Then this morning I saw it again, only it didn’t hide this time! I watched the little guy swim around the bottom of the tank, play with the mirror – he was trying to find the fish behind the mirror. I was so excited that I almost forgot to feed the fish. Then I 2nd little guy was swimming around too! So there are bound to be more.

I’m sure Dad at this point is thinking ‘oh boy, more plecos.’ Nope, these are Panda Corycats. They have the black stripe like the pandas, they swim like pandas, they’re shaped like pandas (not plecos), and one of the adult pandas checks on them every so often.

I have a very short video to post as proof but I have to get it uploaded to a computer first. You can’t see that it’s a Panda in it though, so Dad will have to stop by sometime to get that proof.

I can’t believe it. We have baby Panda Corycats.

I posted one picture so far. It’s really hard to see, but I figure its better than nothing.

I FINALLY have the video to post.  I had to clip it down to under 1 mb but it started at 30mb.  Proof that there is a baby fish!

Fish –not trying to stir any pots

Tuesday, August 17th, 2004

I don’t want to get into the fish drama at work. I’m sick of it. But I wanted to write about the 3 happiest fish I’ve ever seen. I watched the 3 tiger barbs swim back and forth in a tank last night. They would swim to one end, then turn around, get all their speed up and then hit the current from the filter and coast the rest of the way and then turn around and do it again. I swear I could hear them at one point saying, ‘let’s do it again, let’s do it again!’ They were the cutiest (yes, I just called fish cute) fish I’ve ever watched. I think they got bored of it eventually, but they were having a blast swimming in the current.

MURDERER!

Thursday, August 12th, 2004

The murderer fish died. I don’t know how or why. But I’m going to blame it on one of two things. Either he died from depression OR tscott cursed the fish when he sentenced it to death.

Mark agreed we just weren’t meant to have ugly fish and we better get some clown loaches now. So he might not have said that exaclty, but that’s what he meant.
